His sister killed, his team betrayed - a heist goes terribly wrong and now Lucas Hill is Australia’s Most Wanted Man. With no plan.

Action / Heist / Drama

Inspired by: Gone in 60 Seconds, and Australian works like Two Hands and Animal Kingdom.

Rationale;

The story for Bloodline was reversed engineered from the idea I wanted to write something with a practical car chase scene in it. I’m also obsessed with heist movies, so the two thematically fit nicely for a concept. I attempted a ‘dual narrative’ experiment, weaving past and present alongside ample action, excitement and twists. It has a strong focus on character building, and Lucas, the Protagonist, is on the run and always moving so the script has a fast paced tempo and ever growing stakes. Overall Bloodline is about family, identity, and closure.

Initially, this was intended as feature film, but I decided to break it down instead into a 3-part series of one hour episodes. The main reason being its length rivals a Tarantino movie, and the other was that I realised the story I wanted to tell flowed better this way. I did however learn a valuable lesson for future projects about scope creep, and next time I’ll write a script that I won’t need $20 million to make.
